The club was formed over 30 years ago by persons with an interest in electronics and communications, particularly Ham Radio, or Amateur Radio.
The club is located at MacFarlane Park in Klingner Rd, Kippa Ring.(UBD Map 91 Ref G 1) Whereis?
Meeting times are Monday nights from 6:30pm to close, and Wednesday mornings from 8:30am onwards. The hall can be used at other times by any community group by prior arrangement for a small donation.
There are tea and coffee facilities available at 20c a cup, and canned drinks, chocolates, and chips are available at very reasonable prices. Visitors are always welcome to pop in and see what we are all about.
General Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month - seated by 7:30pm sharp. There is a BBQ held pre meeting to ensure the members are quiet and sleepy during the meetings.
The club currently has approximately 80 full members, and three times that in followers and associates.
The club house is owned by Redcliffe and Districts Radio Club, and was purchased from the Guides in the late 1990s.
The land is leased from the Moreton Bay Regional Council, who support the club with grants and concessional rates.
The club regularly holds training courses for Foundation through to Advanced Licenses, as well as Morse Courses (held bi-annually), with one of the best training teams and facilities in the land.
The club has a number of qualified WIA Assessors who are able to conduct examinations for Amateur Radio Licenses by prior arrangement.
The club owns the VK4RRC duplex repeaters at Wamuran (space kindly donated by Rick - VK4HF) for 2m (146.925) and 70cm (438.325), and is in the process of adding a 6m repeater to the array.
The club also owns the VK4RBN (147.000) repeater at Mt Glorious.
